Chukwuma Akabueze, nick-named Bentley, joins Brann from rival Tippeliga side Odd Grenland on a four year deal for an undisclosed fee.

The versatile Nigerian forward will replace the empty spot in Brann's attacking line left by Erik Huseklepp, who joined Italians AS Bari on transfer deadline day.

"He's a young player with great potential. He's versatile and can play in several attacking positions. He's top motivated and ready to take a new step in his career at Brann," Brann's head coach Rune Skarsfjord says.

Bentley is 21 years old and has played three and a half seasons at Odd Grenland, where he was one of the biggest profiles. He's also made his international debut for Nigeria. Bentley has played 112 matches and scored 31 goals for Odd Grenland.

"I'm really happy about this deal and looking forward to getting to know the club, the players and the coaches," Bentley says.

Mezquida on loan

Forward Gabriel Nicolás Mezquida from Uruguay joins Brann on a loan deal from Peñarol lasting until August 1st 2011. Mezquida, 19, is a youth international for Uruguay.

"We're greatful for making a loan deal regarding a young and promising player from a big club in one of the world's big footballing nation. We have a lot of matches to play in the league, Cup, Youth Cup and 3. division (reserves). Nicolás will be an addition to our own young players, and not instead of them. He will give us a new point of reference which is important when it comes to developing our own 16-17 year olds," Skarsfjord comments.

Mezquida himself is looking for this trip to Europe, being his second as he's already been in the spotlight of German giants Schalke 04:

"It went pretty quickly. They called me on Monday to see if I wanted to play in Norway. I didn't hesitate and answered 'yes'. My intention was to stay at Peñarol and be patient, but I couldn't say no to this offer. I've checked out Bergen as a city and Brann as a club on the internet and it looks nice," Mezquida says to Uruguayan newspaper El Telegrafo.

Mezquida will be joined by his father on his trip to Norway, where he will meet up with countryman Diego Guastavino, who has played in Norway for several years already.
